Privacy and Cookies Policy

McV Tax respects the privacy of visitors to www.mcvtax.com (the “Site”). This Privacy and Cookies Policy "Policy" explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices available to you. It applies only to the Site and not to any other website you may reach through a link.  In this Policy, “personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with a particular individual.

McV Tax does not require you to provide personal information to browse the Site.  We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. The Site uses limited cookies to function. Any non-essential cookies — such as the analytics cookies used by Google Analytics — are used only if you consent through our cookies banner.

Scope: This Policy applies to information collected through the Site. It does not apply to client information. McV Tax collects non-public personal information about you that you provide to us, or by which is obtained by us with your authorization.  Examples of sources from which we collect information include client phone calls, interviews, client e-mails and letters, client organizers and tax returns.  Current and former clients’ non-public personal information obtained in the course of providing services is not disclosed except as required or permitted by law.  In all circumstances, the confidential nature of any shared information is emphasized and is governed by our engagement with clients and rules of professional conduct.

Information We Collect: The Site includes a contact form where you can provide personal information (name, email address, phone number, residential or business address and message) directly to us.  This information is used solely to contact you regarding your inquiry. Outside of this information provided directly by you, two types of information may be generated when you visit the Site:

  • Basic technical/request information — such as IP address, browser information, requested pages, timestamps, and, where applicable, referring information — may be processed by the Site's server as part of normal website operation.

  • Google Analytics separately collects analytics and usage information, but only after you consent to analytics cookies through our cookie banners described in the next paragraph.

Managing Cookies on Your Device:  A “cookie” is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. The Site uses different types of cookies to run the Site:

  • Essential/strictly necessary cookies: Some cookies we use are essential to the functioning of the Site. To manage consent, the Site uses a consent-management platform, called Usercentrics, which displays our cookie banner (“cookie banner”) and places necessary cookies that record and remember your consent choices. The Site cannot function properly without strictly necessary cookies, and they do not require your consent.

  • Non-essential cookies (such as analytics, performance, functionality and targeting cookies) are used only if you consent — for example, Google Analytics cookies (described in the next paragraph). The categories of information Google Analytics collects are described below.

When you first visit the Site, our cookie banner lets you Accept All, Reject All, or Customize your preferences. Non-essential cookies are not activated unless you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

Google Analytics: The Site uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics may collect information about your use of the Site, such as the pages you visit, device and browser information, referring sources, and the dates and times of your visits. Google Analytics is not activated unless you consent to analytics cookies through our cookie banner. Information about your use of the Site may be transmitted to and stored by Google LLC; for how Google handles it, see Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can also opt out across most websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

How We Use and Share Information: We use the device information that we collect to help us improve and optimize our website. Additionally, we may use your personal information to communicate with you, send you communications, and to provide support. If your personal information changes, please let us know so we can update our records and continue to provide you with the best possible service. We do not share your personal information with anyone without your expressed consent except as permitted by law and as described below. The law permits disclosure in certain instances, such as if we must share information to protect against fraud, in response to a court subpoena, and the like.

Your Cookies and Choices: You can manage your cookie preferences through our cookies consent banner presented when you visit our website or you can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings as described in the "Managing Cookies on Your Device" section above.

Third-Party Links: The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any website you visit.

Children's Privacy: The Site is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Data Retention:
McV Tax retains records relating to professional services provided to clients so that we may better assist clients with their professional needs. Additionally, records are retained in some circumstances to comply with professional guidelines and requirements. To protect your nonpublic personal information, McV Tax maintains electronic, physical, and procedural safeguards in compliance with professional standards. When the information is no longer needed, we take reasonable measures to dispose of it securely.

Data Security: We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information collected through the Site. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because email is not always secure, please do not include sensitive information in an email to us.

Contact Us:  Your privacy, our professional ethics requirements, and our ability to provide quality services are important to us.  Please contact us with any questions regarding our privacy policy.
